I’m Jonathan Newhall, a physician assistant with 7 years of oncology experience guiding cancer patients through treatment, side effect management, and overall wellness. I have seen firsthand that there is a gap in the current system of care once treatment ends, as survivors often feel like they are left on their own without a comprehensive plan for healing, recovery, and prevention.
The transition to life after cancer can be overwhelming, and I’m passionate about helping survivors reclaim their health and confidence. I founded Ascent Remission to provide the support, structure, and direction needed to thrive beyond cancer.
What is Ascent Remission?
Ascent Remission provides a personalized 12-week program designed to help cancer survivors navigate life after treatment with confidence. Grounded in the principles of lifestyle medicine, my holistic approach addresses the physical, emotional, and social aspects of recovery. Through personalized coaching, specialty lab evaluations, and expert guidance, I provide the tools needed to regain strength, optimize health, and reduce the risk of recurrence so you can live more fully and reclaim your well-being.

What to Expect

Enroll in the Program
Click any “Start the Program” button to register through our secure platform, Practice Better. Complete your payment and look for a welcome email with full program access.

One-on-One Consultations
We’ll start with a one-on-one session to review your cancer history, current health status, challenges, and goals. This session sets the foundation for a plan that’s tailored specifically to you. We’ll also review and customize your lab testing strategy, determining which specialty labs will provide the most helpful insights for your healing and long-term health.

Work Through the Program
You’ll begin working through the 12-week course which includes over five hours of expert-led video content covering key areas of recovery: nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, and more- all in the context of the common challenges faced by cancer survivors. You’ll also get access to tools, guides, recipes, and additional resources to support each step of your journey

Every-Other-Week Coaching
Every two weeks, we’ll meet for a virtual check-in as you work through each section of the course. Together, we’ll personalize the material, translate it into actionable steps, and build a plan that fits into your life.

Get Ongoing Support
You’ll have 24/7 messaging access through the Practice Better platform between sessions for questions, feedback, and encouragement as you move through your recovery journey.
